After retirement, George resided in Cape Hatteras, NC for 10 years and had been visiting the area for over 50 years and was very active in the community. He loved fishing on the beach and offshore but he loved the spirit and the people of the Island most of all. He also loved going to Key West with friends and family during Lobster Season. Dear Family,
Was very saddened to find out that my Uncle George had passed away.At least he is in good company. My dad and mom were there to meet him Im sure.

Dad we are finally going to honor you in the way you so deserve. Mom is better now and I am sure thats all you really cared about anyway. You always cared more about everyone else then you did yourself. I still cry everyday and miss you so much. My heart aches to hug you one more time. I know you are looking after us all and I hope you can help Anthony with a miracle. Thank you for being the best Daddy any girl could ever have. Rest in peace until we see each other again. Love, Mel

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you, Sylvia and to your children. We will always have good memories of George's kind and gentle manner and love of family. We loved our times with the two of you drinking morning coffee on your deck overlooking the 'Slash' in Hatteras Village. The fish fry has never been the same without seeing George in the frying hut and you at the dessert table. We love you.

Life Stories

Won't ever forget the time George & Sylvia took us on a sunset cruise on Sandy Bay and we 'discovered' "George's Reef" (At least that's what we call it now ;) Didn't know a Grady-White could float in so little water!

We remember the time we visited with Sylvia and George in Cape Hatteras and they drove us all around the island,we picniced on the beach and laughed about the many times George would tell Sylvia he was going "fishing" with Billy and end up in Havanna. We will miss him. Our love and prayers are with you, Sylvia and your family.
