Richard Leo Winkeljohn, age 85 of Celina passed away at 5:45a.m. on Friday Oct. 17, 2014. He was born on July 6, 1929 in Celina, Ohio to the late Harry & Bernice (Stueve) Winkeljohn. Survivors include his brothers & sisters-in-law Jerry & Kathleen Pulskamp of New Bremen, James Winkeljohn of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Joyce Winkeljohn of Lima, sisters & brothers-in-law Mary & Don Angel of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Susan & Dan Plummer of Ada and a number of nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his step mother Eleanor (Knapke) Winkeljohn, and his brother Tom Winkeljohn.
Richard served his country in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Reynolds and Reynolds in Celina. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina. Richard was a former Scout Leader for Troop #69 in Celina. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #210, V.F.W. Post #5713, Moose Lodge and Eagles Lodge all of Celina. Richard enjoyed his horses, nothing could beat a good horse race or a round of golf.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30a.m. on Monday Oct. 20, 2014 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, with Fr. Kenneth G. Alt C.PP.S. officiating. Interment of his remains will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Celina with Military Honors provided by the Celina American Legion Post and the Celina V.F.W. Post. Friends may call from 2-6p.m. on Sunday Oct. 19, 2014 at the Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina, with American Legion and V.F.W. membership services at 6p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Richard's Honor to the Caregivers in his life, at the Kidney Services of West Central Ohio or to the Gardens at Celina.
