Eugene B. "Gene" Pleiman, age 80, of Russia Ohio died Friday, September 21, 2012 at 5:14 PM at Wilson Memorial Hospital. He was born August 8, 1932 to the late August A. & Lavera (Voisard) Pleiman in Russia, Ohio. He married Mary Louise Finfrock on November 28, 1953 at St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, Ohio. She preceded him in death on September 21, 2001.He is survived by daughters Becky Pleiman, Russia, OH, Diann & David McGarvey, Davidsonville, MD, Lori Ward, Lebanon, OH, grandchildren Brian & Anne McGarvey, brothers & sisters, Donald & Ruth Pleiman, Ft. Loramie, OH Marceil & Patrick Kuhn, FL, Ruth & Norman Davidson, Russia, Rita & Michael Utz, Ft. Loramie, Marilyn & Richard Sherman, Russia, John & Elaine Pleiman, Tipp City, Thomas & Christine Pleiman, Greenville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, daughter Connie in 2003, an infant son Michael in 1954 and brother JamesEdward in 1966 in Vietnam. Gene graduated from Russia High School and Miami University in Oxford in 1954 where he majored in history. During his youth he worked for Thomas V. Francis at the foundry, Harold "Shep" Simon at Shep's Restaurant, and many farmers in the area around Russia. He served in the US Army Counter Intelligence Corps during the Korean Conflict. Upon return, he worked for Aeroporducts (GM), Steel Products (Kelsey-Hayes) and Borg-Warner in Freemont. He was the Vice-President of Sales and Engineering with Mansfield Brass and Aluminum Corp. a foundry in Mansfield. Gene was an avid fisherman, serving as co-captain, with his best buddy Hal Dodway on Hal's charter boat "Viking", out of Port Clinton on Lake Erie during the 1980's. A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday September 27, 2012 at the St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia, OH with Rev. Frank Amberger celebrant. Burial will take place at St. Remy Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to Brain Injury Association at www.biausa.org. Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Russia has been entrusted with the arrangements.
